Sarod Maestro Padma Vibhushan Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Ustad Amaan Ali Bangash & Ustad Ayaan Ali Bangash perform together at the iconic CSMVS for the first time!
The lawns of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sanghrahalaya, formerly Prince of Wales Museum, resonated with the sound of applause as Sarod Maestros, Padma Vibhushan Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Ustad Amaan Ali Bangash and Ustad Ayaan Ali Bangash delivered an enchanting performance. This is the first time Ustad Amjad Ali Khan performed with his sons at this heritage venue.
A proud father, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan expressed, "It's a very rare occasion and I'm very happy because Amaan-Ayaan recently received the Shanmukha Sangeetha Shiromani, a great encouragement for every young musician.” Added he on performing at the iconic structure, “It’s always an honour and pleasure to perform at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya… I performed here last December as well but this time it’s all the more special since I am performing with my sons!”
"Every venue has its own vibes. When I perform at the museum, I get inspired as the audience's energy levels always differ. Today, the audience was very vibrant, supportive, loving and very enthusiastic,” Ustad Amaan Ali Bangash added.
Feeling ecstatic, Ustad Ayaan Ali Bangash mentioned, “It's such a beautiful and a rare setting with such a beautiful backdrop. To sit with my father on stage itself is a blessing. Some good deed I did, maybe in my last life."
The crowd remained mesmerized for over about two hours as they were rooted to their seats, clapping as Ustad Amjad Ali Khan with sons Ustad Amaan Ali Bangash and Ustad Ayaan Ali Bangash, Pandit Vijay Ghate on the tabla and Sridhar Parthasarthy on the mridangam took them on a melodious musical journey. Ace percussionist Taufiq Qureshi also graced the occasion.
Sometimes with soulful ragas and other times with energetic jugalbandis, the musicians made the museum come alive, literally!
