Social entrepreneurs and founders of the Niine Movement, Amar and Payal Tulsiyan, participated in a high-level panel at the Federation of Obstetric and Gynaecological Societies of India (FOGSI) International Women’s Health Summit which took place on 1st-3rd of June in Delhi.

The summit convened medical and health experts to discuss the major issues and advancements regarding the treatment of women’s reproductive health, with a particular focus on pregnancy. Amar and Payal Tulsiyan also discussed the importance of menstrual hygiene management during the “Adolescent Girls’ Health” panel.

The event also saw the Niine Movement announce their strategic partnership with FOGSI in a bid to spearhead activities across India and bridge the gap between the 18% of women using sanitary napkins and the 82% of women often reverting to unhygienic and unsafe alternatives such as old cloths, rags, hay and even ash.

The FOGSI International Women’s Health Summit also celebrated the exceptional contributions of individuals towards the welfare of society. In recognition of their work towards tackling the taboos associated with menstrual hygiene, Amar Tulsiyan and Payal Tulsiyan were presented the prestigious Partner in Health Award.

To mark International Menstrual Hygiene Day on the 28th May, the Niine Movement hosted the Menstrual Awareness Conclave supported by the President of FOGSI, Dr Jaideep Malhotra and megastar Akshay Kumar.
