MARATHI MULGI NEHHA PENDSE AND MUMBAIKAR AKSHAY MHATRE SHARE THEIR FAVOURITE LOCAL CUISINES

From the piping hot vada pavs to the spicy missal and buttery pav bhaji, Mumbai’s Street food makes everyone a foodie. Along with the city of big dreams, Devgiri has a different specialty too. On this World Food Day, Marathi mulgi Nehha Pendse (Anita Bhabi of Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai) and Akshay Mhatre (Varun Agarwal of Ghar Ek Mandir-Kripa Agrasen Maharaja Ki) go on a Mumbai food trail to share their favorite local cuisine and eateries in Mumbai and Devgiri.

Nehha Pendse shares, "I am a true Mumbai chi Mulgi and enjoy a variety of local delicacies right from my childhood. The mouth-watering puran polis, masala bhaat, bhelpuri, and ragda pattice have always been my favourites. Though I try avoiding refined flour as part of my regular diet, on my cheat days the above-mentioned top my food preference list. The freshly made spices add aroma and taste to the preparation. Also, Mumbai is home to select Iranian restaurants which offer delicious Dhansak and berry pulao which can turn any normal day into an exciting one. I love this city and the varied delicacies it offers. I have also been to Devgiri and savoured the Pithla Bhakri, Sheermal, Naan- Khaaliya, and Sabudana Vada offered in the city. This is what I love about Maharashtra – every city has something unique to please your tastebuds.” Akshay Mhatre shares, “I am a very big foodie. Having stayed in Mumbai, I have explored all the popular eateries in the city, right from the khau gallis to Elco chat center, vada pav at aaram center, and Keerti college Parel to Badshah faaluda, to name a few. The list is endless! While I try to avoid junk food, there are times that the foodie in me takes over, and then there is no stopping. Only in Mumbai, you can have schezwan vada pav and black pav bhaji. And if you want to experience an amalgamation of Maharashtrian food flavour, Devgiri will not disappoint you. The strong fragrances of street-side kebabs, missal, and bhajiis are enough to make your mouth water and make you crave for more!”
