&TV’s dance reality show, High fever… Dance ka Naya Tevar has opened its doors to yet a new judge on the back of the joyous festival of Eid. While the festival has surely brought in happiness for many, it has also been a lucky charm for someone who is known as the dancing star in Bollywood. Choreographer turned actor Salman Yussuf Khan who has been known for charming the audience with his magical dance performances and a reality star himself will be taking over from Lara Dutta on the show. The latter, has not only played the role of a mentor and a friend to the contestant jodis but has also been a true entertainer.
Last week’s episode of the show saw an emotional and teary-eyed farewell for Lara Dutta who has stepped down from the judges throne due to certain personal emergencies and commitments. For the mentor that she has been, the contestants decided to surprise her with a flash mob on her songs. Culminating the most memorable 14 weeks as a judge on High Fever, a surprised and delighted Lara said “When &TV approached me to be a judge, I was sold the moment I knew about the different relations this show values. High Fever is one of those reality shows where reality isn’t created, but is a result of the positive energy, passion and genuine performances by the contestants. I have developed an amazing bond with all the contestants and I think each one of them are winners irrespective of who gets the prize. Priyanshu and Nitesh Shetty have done a wonderful job of keeping the show together and I thank everybody for this beautiful and wonderful journey. Hum alvida nahi kahenge and I hope to see you all at another time.”
Lara also had a heartfelt message for her co judges Esha Gupta and Ahmed Khan “I really don’t know where the 14 weeks have gone because of this incredible co-judge, Ahmed Khan. He has been a true friend and a guide throughout and I probably wouldn’t have been able to do this without him. Esha, you have brought a wonderful energy to this show in just a few weeks and it’s been such a pleasure working with you.”
While Lara is set to make a move, Salman Yusuff Khan is absolutely delighted to step in as a judge on this show “Judging a reality show was never really a part of the plan and I thought it would come at a much later stage in life. I was taken by surprise when &TV extended the opportunity and I am quite thrilled to take it up. The show’s concept as well as the contestant stories have created an intrigue within me and I absolutely love the combination of dance and relations. It’s new and different and not as technical as the other reality shows that I follow. I have a few favourites on the show and I think their performances are fabulous.”
On sharing the screen with Ahmed Khan and Esha Gupta, he further added, “It’s going to be an honour sitting next to Ahmed sir because he is my mentor that is Remo D’souza’s mentor. I love his work and I believe there is a lot to take from him. I have been a hardcore fan of Esha Gupta too and I think she is gorgeous. Ye sone pe suhaga hai and I think it’s going to be a fun trio” said Salman.
Talking about his expectations from the show, the dancer who literally eats lives and sleeps dance said “Contestants can definitely expect me to shake a leg with them and have loads of fun. With regards to judging, we shall see how that goes.”
