ZEE5 presents ‘Bhalla Calling Bhalla’, a light family entertainer, shot entirely online
A snackable comedy show about a dysfunctional Punjabi family and how they are dealing with the lockdown
ZEE5, the largest video streaming platform in the country has consistently entertained the audience with both free and premium content. The line-up during the lockdown is robust and full of new, engaging, fun content. The viewers are looking for non-stop, light-hearted entertainment and keeping this in mind, ZEE5 has announced a brand new, never done before concept based show – Bhalla Calling Bhalla.
The Bhalla’s are an upper middle class Punjabi family based out of Gurugram. Though they seem normal at first glance, they are dysfunctional in their own way. The 12 episode show is a lockdown special series shot from the safety of the actors’ homes, with each episode around the duration of 7-8 mins. The lockdown has made the family realize the need to be with each other and that they need Lovely Bhalla to tide them through this crisis as they are all stuck in different parts of the country.
Starring Lubna Salim as Mrs. Lovely Bhalla Rajesh Kumar as Mr. Bhalla, Leenesh Matoo as Sahil Bhalla (son), Gracy Goswami as Lisa aka Arundhati Bhalla (daughter) and Gaurav Gera as Gaurav Singh (Mrs. Bhalla’s brother)
Owing to the lockdown, Mrs. Bhalla has scheduled daily family video calls on her calendar as she is multi-tasking. From lessons on cooking, cleaning and discussing relatives to forcing the family to be a part of online satsang, the Bhalla family has a new subject for conflict and conversations each time. The interpersonal dynamic between the family also goes through a myriad of emotions thus making it a wholesome family entertainer.
Loaded with humor, drama, romance and family bonding, this is a roller coaster ride that will keep the viewers entertained all through.
To premiere in May on ZEE5, date to be announced shortly.
