Bharat will resume flights to and from the UK from January 8, civil aviation minister said on Friday.
Hardeep Singh Puri, Union Minister of Civil Aviation, on Friday said that Bharat-UK flights will resume from January 8 and till January 23, only 15 flights per week each for carriers of the two nations will be permitted.
The decision comes after Puri on Wednesday extended the ban of flights to and from the UK till January 7 due to the detection of a new strain of novel coronavirus that is spreading wildly in Britain.
Over 30 nations have halted air travel to Britain because of the new strain, which UK officials said has gone "out of control".
At least four more cases of the new variant have been detected in India on Friday taking the total cases to 29, however, it is still not known how many people amongst these 29 visited the UK.
